easy under-cabinet lighting

Now that our fauxdenza is finally complete, I've jumped right in and started styling it. I knew I wanted a light of some type on that wall because it's always so dark, but every lamp I tried just looked off.  You know what I'm talking about. I thought about a picture light over the t.v. but can you imagine the glare?  So after a lot of thought, I came up with the idea of under-cabinet lighting. Finally, an idea that just might work. I told Ryan about my idea and he was immediately on board.  At first I wasn't sure how we were going to make this happen, but Ryan quickly found l.e.d. light strips on Amazon and they were exactly what we wanted.#amazonsavestheday   The light strips are sticky, so no drilling or extra holes were needed. You just stick it on and cut the extra.  Boom.  Done.

So there ya have it!
You really don't get easier than that!

  1. I was linked to your site through AT and, at first, I liked the "before" shot of the living room, pre-shiplap, better. Now, I'm loving the after. I think the original before shot had the plant and the tv was on, which gave the wall a lot of color. But the after is growing on me with its clean simplicity. Plus, with the added elements on/around the media stand, it looks great!

Also, kudos for making red and orange accents look warm and modern at the same time! I'm usually a fan of the cooler blues and greens, but so many people are using those colors that I'm almost getting tired of them. Your color scheme was a nice surprise.

  2. Thanks so much for your nice comment! I truly appreciate it. I'm usually a cooler color girl as well, but I agree, everyone seems to have it these days! :)
